Custom-Built Dining Room Tables
The cornerstone of Millender Furniture is our dining room table program, a program unique in the furniture industry. The program is built around making each major feature on our tables an option. Customers begin with mahogany grain selection, the choice of four standard borders (more available by special request), and the choice between two edges. The number grows with different apron styles and table bases, all in various table sizes and shapes, and offered in a wide variety of finishes. Our purpose is to make furniture that is a perfect fit for anyone. Customers only need to answer a few simple questions in order to specify a dining table that is for them alone, to be enjoyed for a lifetime.
A

Field Wood Selection
Flat Cut Mahogany which is characterized by a fairly uniform straight grain pattern or striking Swirl Mahogany which exhibits a much more exciting multi-directional grain pattern.

Finish Selection

PM, our “Polished Mahogany” finish is a deep, moderately dark brown finish accented with grain shading and highlights. The overall color is very similar to what we believe new furniture would have resembled when originally made. Consistent with this approach, the polish level is rather high, though not a full buffed, brilliant gloss. Also in keeping with hand made antique furniture, we intentionally add tiny tool marks and color markings as an original piece would have. This serves the added purpose of lessening the impact of the inevitable small marks that happen in use. This finish is also available in a dull satin sheen by special request.

HM, our “Heirloom Mahogany” finish is a somewhat lighter finish, much like Polished Mahogany will become after 10 or more years of exposure to sunlight. As with the Polished Mahogany, we intentionally add tiny tool marks and color markings as an original piece would have. This serves the added purpose of lessening the impact of the inevitable small marks that happen in use. This finish is also available in a dull satin sheen by special request.

AM, our “Antique Mahogany” finish simulates what the Heirloom Mahogany would appear to be after some forty or fifty years of excellent care and maintenance. The color is perhaps a more faded, but some evidence of dark stain tempers the light tones. Also, the moderate level of physical antiquing emulates the wear resulting from years of loving use. In an effort towards a more authentic look, this finish is crafted with more visible, open wood pore. The finish is comes standard with a moderately high sheen, but is also available in a dull satin sheen by special request.

VM, our “Vintage Mahogany” finish carries the simulated ageing process another hundred years. There is significant physical distress, varying degrees of sheen, scratches, dents, and other evidences of long use. There are many color blended into this finish, and no small panel will possibly show them all. The effect is intentionally far from monotone, but simulates the differing wear and fading that would be caused by different areas of wear, and different hardness of the original wood selected. Because of the hand work required to achieve these effects, this is a premium finish at additional charge.
