This is an adaptation of an original we happened across in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. It achieves beauty with its serpentine shape and carefully matched swirl mahogany veneers, set off by ebony and satinwood inlays; function with its large serving area; and mystery with its locking doors, drawers, and two hidden compartments. This rather modest server/sideboard is a very elegant alternative to our larger, dramatic 18-150 Hepplewhite Sideboard. It is sized for today's smaller dining areas, but is large enough to be a functional sideboard with ample storage for flatware. The larger drawers are sized for table linen storage. This custom piece was done for a customer by special request. The customer had seen our small scale Robert Adam china cabinet and wanted to convert the base of that cabinet into a buffet with an additional row of drawers and a finished, inlaid top. It took us about five months to manufacture the piece, but in the end we made the buffet you see pictured above.

She had a dining room with no continuous wall space over 78 inches. She liked certain aspects of our 70 inch china cabinets and certain aspects of our Robert Adam Style cabinets, so we came up with the hybrid pictured above.
