This attractive Chippendale mirror was designed to compliment our line of Traditional occasional furniture. It is a very delicately carved piece indicative of Chippendale styling. This attractive oval mirror was designed to compliment our Traditional Bedroom group. It is surround by hand-carved detail, with heavy emphasis at the base and crown which are smaller scale versions of the carvings found on the headboard of our four post bed. This tray table incorporates some design motifs evocative of the days of the British Empire, when imported items flowed into Britain made of bamboo. The solid mahogany legs resemble bamboo in their turnings, and flow into tiny, hand-carved ball and claw feet. Function is served as the top os removable for serving purposes. This little tray table is a more Chippendale alternative to our "Eight Leg, Ball & Claw" tray table. It can be used at the foot of a bed, or as a cocktail table for the living room. Its simple clean lines, and intricate joinery offer an attractive look, while easily avoiding overstatement. There are no examples of the modern day "cocktail table" to be found among 18th Century antiques. Designing this table was, therefore, quite challenging as we strived to make it look proper, while no precedents exist. We found a Queen Anne sterling silver tray with a beautiful raised rim, and scaled it up to the table you see here. This attractive silver / tea table is one of our masterpieces. It has pierced carvings throughout the entire piece and is surprisingly strong for its delicate appearance. The top is hand selected plain cut mahogany, veneer construction to assure stability of dimension, thus allowing the joints of the gallery top to remain closed. This fabulous piecrust table has hand-carved points throughout. The table top is carved from solid wood, not made as a flat panel with applied rim. The pedestal has been carved round with bead and reed motif, embellished with the traditional acanthus leaf detail. The shell carvings on the legs complete the staid beauty of this piece. This Georgian styled entrance hall / sofa table is a truly attractive and versatile piece. It is constructed of solid mahogany components with a cathedral grain mahogany veneered top. The hand-carved accents on the front, spanning the legs add the perfect splash of detail, making the piece formal, decorative, but not overdone. The Pembroke table is named for the Earl of Pembroke, who long ago developed the drop leaf design. This piece expands to a width of forty inches for added functionality. The supports for the drop leaf are fit into the sides of the table and are hinged by a movable wooden finger joint, not a brass hinge that would wear out over time. A table in which the legs themselves pivot out to support the drop leaves is called a gateleg table. This table is a little different in that it has two moveable legs to support each leaf.
